Work starts on Ancaster housing scheme

31 October 2018

Work on our first ever residential development has started on site in the Lincolnshire village of Ancaster.

This will be the second phase of a £3 million project to transform the site of a former repair garage, following the construction of a convenience store which is now a thriving Co-op, and will create 14 high-quality family homes – marketed under our new brand, Wheatcroft Homes.

Director of Wheatcroft Homes Catherine Haward said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be starting on site. The first phase of this mixed use development involved demolition of the old buildings, site remediation and construction of the convenience store. We’re really excited to see this next phase take shape, providing much needed new homes in this lovely village.”

“These homes will be a valuable addition to the local community and the areas surrounding Ancaster, providing an opportunity for first time buyers, young families and local people to purchase a new home in this desirable location. As we have already received lots of early interest, we don’t expect the properties to be available for long.”

Local award-winning construction company, Gelder Group has been appointed to build the new properties, with completion expected this summer.

Steve Gelder, CEO at Gelder Group, added: “We are delighted to have been chosen to deliver this project for Wheatcroft Land and look forward to working with Catherine and her team to deliver a high-quality product that enhances the local community.”

The range of two and three-bedroom homes are now available for sale with Pygott & Crone with prices starting from £150,000.

Jamie Aspland, branch manager at Pygott & Crone, said: “Lincolnshire has a target of creating 100,000 new homes by 2020 – this development is a really positive step in alleviating the housing crisis and helping us reach this goal. This scheme is providing homes for people who are going to contribute towards our booming economy here in Lincolnshire and ensuring that our rural businesses and communities continue to thrive.

“Pygott & Crone has had a presence in the county for more than 20 years and the housing market has continued to grow stronger and stronger – and we’re very proud to be marketing such a transformative development in an incredibly sought after location.”
